Surprise
Surprise is a twin Screw Expedition Motor Yacht built in steel / aluminium by McMullen & Wing in NZ and launched 2001. Length of 35m (115ft) Beam 8.00m (26ft )Draft 2.60m (8ft 6in) and displaces 270 tonnes. She is currently at Orams under going a comprehensive major refit.

Strip out Phase - Flybridge Alteration Including: Remove Existing Bar
Remove Existing Helm

Remove TV Dome fwd of flybridge
Complete Strip out Flybridge Area
Bridge Deck Alteration
Remove Existing Exterior Ceiling Panels
Remove Existing Interior Ceiling Panels
Strip out of Bridge Deck area
Aft upper deck -- new layout
Construct New Sun Lounge - Remove Teak Decking
Construct New Bar
Replace Teak Decks Under Bar Area
New TRAK stabilizer system
Remove existing stabilizer system
Fabrication work around stabilizer fin area and inst raw water components
Install hyd components plus electrics-run wiring/mount controls
Connect all wiring-- run lines and connect pipework
Mount stabilizer fin components, Painting & Final Bolting of Stabilisers
Pre-commission stabilizer system & start reinstatement of cabins
Final Welding - Stabiliser Areas. Mount stabilizer pump and PTO on night gen - Stabiliser set up (in water)
Interior - General - Including: Remove & replace all joinery & hardware
Remove cane from all wardrobe doors
Build 4 ply panels-Upholstrd int window linings
Convert all wardrobe doors to Euro Beech Louvre
Internal Coatings, Clean all sand and full interior Varnish
Galley (1)
Full strip out including extract systems
Replace flooring with Amtico
Replace required equipment
Replace central bench and extension
Galley lighting review layout and controls
Replace cooktop and change lighting
All Internal Coatings, prep, seal and finish
Internal Coatings - Fire retardant finishes
On June 11th 09 Surprise was launched from the the main undercover facility and the refit work continued.
