Shenandoah 2009
Shenandoah is a Classic 55m (180ft) three-masted schooner built in 1902. With a beam of 8m (27ft) Draught of 5m (16ft) Construction is steel hull with timber superstructure displacing 300 Tonnes. The schooner is currently undergoing a major refit following the limited maintenance schedule carried out in our yard during 2008.

The comprehensive refit includes the bowsprit and 3 spars plus topmasts each weighing approx 4800kg being removed for full service and maintenance
On going work includes
Waterblast hull
Fair and repaint topsides
Remove rudder, service all bearings, stuffing box, repair gudgeons & pintals
Service all seacock's
Re-caulk all deck seams
Service and align all stanchions
Remove & service eye bolts
Replace zinc anodes
Reface chain plate tangs for bowsprit rigging and bush
Service Caprail protecting plates
Sandblast bulwarks and chainplates.
Main engine- Remove heads & full service
Replace all engine controls with a new KOBELT system
Install new generators and fit new Genset exhausts

On June 12th the yacht was hauled out on the slipway and placed under cover for refit work to continue

On September 14th 2009 Shenandoah was successfully rolled ou from the Main under cover Shed and launched for Refit work to continue.

With the 6 month Refit complete Shenandoah departed from Auckland for Sydney on November 10th 2009
